Beyond the essential instructional materials, additional choices include music, dramas, interactive workbooks, editing daily workbooks, revising daily workbooks, and Learning Literature children's books.

These are optional additions. The daily student workbook that accompanies a cluster remains part of the essential lesson set; additional interactive-workbook products are extensions beyond that set.

Choose an add-on for a clear instructional purpose. You might connect a song to an editing focus, use an additional workbook for relevant practice, or study a word choice in a children's book and apply that idea in writing.

When choosing additional practice workbooks or other cluster-based resources on our website, match the grade-level collection and cluster. The passages and subject-matter content remain consistent, even when the activity or format changes.

The question is not, How many resources can we fit into the day? It is, Which resource helps students use today's learning?

The guide's Sing It callouts connect songs with particular skills and point teachers to the lyrics.

For example, Sweep It Clean connects with editing. Make It Stronger connects with revision. Big Word Detective: Morphology Songs connects word parts with meaning.

Keep the learning connection visible. After the music, ask students to apply the idea: edit a new sentence, make a purposeful revision, or explain and use an affixed word.

The song is one part of the experience. The student's next decision shows how that experience connects to writing.

To get started, choose the full-system approach or the cluster that meets your current need. Match the grade-level collection and cluster across your teacher guide, student workbook, lesson slides, and any additional cluster-based practice. Schedule the appropriate instructional blocks, and prepare the first lesson and its materials.

For complete-system implementation, select the pacing calendar and plan the separate Standards block. As instruction begins, collect a starting sample and use subsequent student work to guide your next steps.

For reviewers, follow the same connection: the target standard, the planned instruction, the resource students use, the work they produce, and the feedback that follows. A standard listed on a page is a starting point; the instructional experience and student evidence show how that plan is put into practice.

You do not have to choose between the core RLA curriculum you already use and additional support for writing.

The Writing Academy is designed to work alongside that core. Use the complete system for a connected sequence of supplemental instruction, or select one monthly cluster where support is needed.

Keep the materials aligned. Give students opportunities to practice, explain, and apply. Use what they show you to decide what comes next.

Our purpose is to give teachers a clear path and students meaningful opportunities to grow as writers.
