Why We Need Laws

Long ago people argued over land and things,

Voices grew loud like clashing, noisy rings.

Without clear rules to guide what should be done,

Many small problems quickly grew to one.

Some took more food while others had too little,

Strong voices won while quiet ones stayed brittle.

Disagreements spread like storms across the town,

And fairness often seemed to tumble down.

So people gathered, searching for a way,

To write fair rules that everyone would obey.

With laws to guide what people say and do,

Communities could grow more safe and true.
